Advancing Livelihoods Through Multi‑Income Opportunities
Malliga | Nerpugapatti, Sivagangai District, Tamil Nadu
Malliga lives in Nerpugapatti village in Karaikudi, Sivagangai district. She has been a member of Valar Aditi Social Finance Private Limited for the past four years. During this period, she received her first loan of ₹40,000 and her second loan of ₹60,000, both of which she repaid with full responsibility and discipline.
Last month, Malliga received a personal loan of ₹1,00,000, which marked a turning point in her livelihood journey. With this support, she established a grocery store and also purchased a tailoring machine. She placed the sewing machine inside her shop so she could stitch clothes during her free time. By running two income‑generating activities in a single shop, she has created a strong and sustainable livelihood model.
Her husband also supports her by working in the shop. The shop rent is ₹1,500 per month, and Malliga now earns ₹1,000 per day through the grocery store and ₹500 per day through tailoring. Together, she earns approximately ₹45,000 per month, significantly improving her family’s quality of life.
Today, Malliga enjoys a stable and dignified living. Her success has also helped spread the good name of Valar Aditi Social Finance Private Limited throughout her village.
